Congratulations Scholars!

My name is Jazmyne, and I am an aspiring interventional cardiologist—a field that combines noninvasive surgery with preventive care. I recently graduated high school with over 70 college credits completed. I work in a cardiology clinic, gaining hands-on experience while staying committed to academic excellence, my faith in Jesus, and the support of my amazing family and friends. I am passionate about healthcare, innovation, and uplifting my community through education and advocacy. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, reading classic literature, and traveling. I am honored to receive this scholarship, which brings me one step closer to making a lasting impact in the medical field!

My name is Kayla Murphy, the 18 year old daughter of Brandy and Sedric Murphy. I am the oldest child with a younger brother who is 14 years old. I will be attending UNCW Honors College to major in marine biology. I have always excelled in school and strived to have good grades which allowed me to graduate as part of the national honor society. Outside of school, I was very active in gymnastics, dance, basketball, and tennis. 

My name is Niyah Locklear, and I’m a rising Junior at the University of North Carolina of Pembroke. I am the daughter of Ms. Kimberly Hunt and Mr. Garrick Locklear. I have one older sibling, Noah Locklear. I am majoring in Bio Med. Upon graduation, I plan on attending East Carolina University for dental school. My career goal is to become a General Dentist. I am very thankful for the opportunity to receive this scholarship to further my endeavors in education. 

My name is Tinaya Eason, and I am a Biomedical Science student at North Carolina Central University. I am passionate about healthcare, scientific research, and making a positive impact in my community. On campus, I serve as the Junior Class SGA Event Coordinator and Secretary for the J.E.W.E.L.S. organization, and I am also an active member of the National Council of Negro Women. I enjoy creative activities such as henna art and makeup, as well as spending quality time with my family and friends. My goal is to pursue a career in biomedical research focused on improving health outcomes in underserved communities. I am honored to receive this scholarship and grateful for the support as I continue my academic and professional journey. 

Zaria Blue-Hardy is a twenty-year-old college student from Linden, NC. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in English Creative Writing. She has also declared a minor in Biology to work towards a future career in dermatology. Zaria’s writing is deeply rooted in faith-centered themes and often explores transformation, identity, and the power of language. With a passion for both storytelling and science, Zaria believes in the healing power that can be found in words and medicine. She hopes to one day serve communities not only through clinical care, but also through creative expression and compassionate advocacy. She is dedicated to using both storytelling and medicine as tools for restoration, representation, and empowerment within her community.
